Your Privacy Matters: Ideas Quantified is committed to protecting your privacy across all our products and services, including FactCheck and WhereTo. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you create an account:

  • Email address – For account identification and communication
  • Password – Encrypted and securely stored
  • OAuth provider data – When using Apple, Google, or Microsoft sign-in (name, email, profile photo if provided)

1.2 Usage Information

We automatically collect:

  • App interactions and feature usage
  • Device information (device type, OS version, app version)
  • Error logs and crash reports
  • Usage statistics and quota tracking

1.3 FactCheck-Specific Data

When using FactCheck:

  • Fact check queries and results
  • URLs and web content submitted for fact-checking
  • Text content you paste or share
  • YouTube video transcripts
  • PDF documents (content extracted for analysis)
  • Chat messages with the AI assistant

1.4 WhereTo-Specific Data

When using WhereTo:

  • Location data – GPS coordinates when you use location features (with your permission)
  • Search queries – Places, addresses, and points of interest you search for
  • Map interactions – Areas viewed, layers enabled, saved locations
  • AI chat messages – Questions you ask about locations
  • Preferences – Your filter settings, favorite places, and customizations

1.5 Payment Information

  • Apple In-App Purchases: Processed by Apple. We receive transaction receipts and subscription status only.
  • Google Play Purchases: Processed by Google. We receive transaction receipts and subscription status only.
  • Stripe Payments: Payment details handled by Stripe. We store only subscription status and plan information.

1.6 Guest Mode Data

When using Guest Mode (no account):

  • Data stored locally on your device only
  • No server-side tracking or storage
  • Limited functionality and usage limits
  • Automatically deleted when app uninstalled

  • OpenAI (GPT models) – Content processed through OpenAI's API (Basic tier and above)
  • OpenAI Text-to-Speech – Voice synthesis for AI responses (Premium tier and above)
  • Anthropic (Claude models) – Content processed through Anthropic's API (FactCheck)

3.2 Search & Data Services

  • Brave Search – URLs and search queries (FactCheck)
  • Google Maps & Places API – Location queries, place details, photos, routing (WhereTo - Professional tier)
  • OpenStreetMap – Map data and points of interest (WhereTo - All tiers)
  • Wikipedia – Location and place information (WhereTo - All tiers)
  • GeoDB Cities Ultra – City and geographic data (WhereTo - All tiers)

3.3 Weather Services

  • Open-Meteo – Weather forecasts and conditions (WhereTo - All tiers)
  • OpenWeather – Weather data (WhereTo - Basic and Premium tiers)
  • VisualCrossing – Historical and forecast weather data (WhereTo - Basic tier and above)

3.4 Property & Real Estate Services

  • RapidAPI Zillow – Property values, listings, and real estate data (WhereTo - Basic tier and above)

3.5 Education & Demographics Services

  • SchoolDigger – School ratings, rankings, and information (WhereTo - Premium tier)
  • Jobs Search API – Local employment and job listings (WhereTo - Premium tier and above)

3.6 Environmental & Safety Services

  • EPA Superfund API – Environmental hazard and cleanup site data (WhereTo - Premium tier and above)
  • HowLoud – Noise level and soundscape data (WhereTo - Premium tier and above)
  • Political Map Data – Voting patterns and district information (WhereTo - All tiers)

3.7 Infrastructure Services

  • Supabase – Database and authentication hosting
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) – Server hosting and file storage
  • Stripe – Payment processing for web subscriptions
  • RevenueCat – In-app purchase management (iOS & Android)

4. Location Data (WhereTo)

WhereTo collects location data to provide location-based services:

4.1 How We Use Location Data

  • Show your current position on the map
  • Find nearby points of interest
  • Provide location-aware AI responses
  • Display relevant local data (weather, crime, schools, etc.)

4.2 Location Data Controls

  • Location access requires your explicit permission
  • You can revoke permission at any time in device settings
  • The app functions with reduced features without location access
  • We do not sell location data to third parties
  • Location history is not permanently stored on our servers

5. Data Storage and Security

5.1 Storage Locations

  • User accounts: Supabase (US servers)
  • Application data: PostgreSQL database
  • File storage: Amazon S3
  • Local preferences: Device storage (encrypted)

5.2 Security Measures

  • All data transmitted via HTTPS encryption
  • Passwords hashed with industry-standard algorithms
  • Regular security audits and updates
  • Access controls and authentication requirements
  • Row-level security on database

5.3 Data Retention

  • Account data: Retained while your account is active
  • Usage logs: Retained for 90 days
  • Location data: Not permanently stored; used only for active sessions
  • Deleted accounts: Personal data deleted within 30 days, analytics anonymized

6. Your Privacy Rights & Data Deletion

6.1 Access Your Data

View your account information, subscription details, and usage history in the app.

6.2 Delete Your Account

You can delete your Ideas Quantified account (used for FactCheck, WhereTo, and other services) at any time:

Option 1: In-App Deletion

  1. Open the app (FactCheck or WhereTo)
  2. Go to Settings → Account
  3. Tap "Delete Account"
  4. Confirm deletion

Option 2: Email Request

  1. Email privacy@ideasquantified.com from your registered email
  2. Subject: "Account Deletion Request"
  3. Include your registered email address
  4. We will process your request within 7 business days

6.3 What Gets Deleted

Note: Active subscriptions are automatically canceled. Deletion cannot be undone.

6.4 Delete Specific Data (Without Deleting Account)

To request deletion of specific data while keeping your account:

  1. Email privacy@ideasquantified.com
  2. Subject: "Data Deletion Request"
  3. Specify what data you want deleted (e.g., "search history", "chat history", "location data")
  4. We will process your request within 7 business days

6.5 Export Your Data

Request a copy of your data by contacting privacy@ideasquantified.com. We will provide your data within 30 days.

6.6 Opt-Out Options

  • Use Guest Mode (no server-side data storage)
  • Disable location services (WhereTo)
  • Use BYOK mode where available (FactCheck)

7. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

California residents have additional rights:

  • Right to Know: Request details about personal information collected
  • Right to Delete: Request deletion of personal information
  • Right to Opt-Out: We do not sell personal information
  • Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate for exercising privacy rights

8. GDPR Compliance (European Users)

For users in the European Economic Area:

  • Legal Basis: Consent, contract performance, legitimate interests
  • Data Controller: Ideas Quantified
  • Data Transfers: Data may be transferred to US servers with appropriate safeguards
  • Your Rights: Access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection

9. Apple & Google Privacy Requirements

9.1 Apple Sign In

When using Apple Sign In with "Hide My Email", we communicate only through Apple's private relay.

9.2 App Store Privacy Labels

Our App Store privacy labels reflect:

  • Data Linked to You: Email, user ID, location (WhereTo), usage data
  • Data Used to Track You: None – we don't use data for cross-app tracking
  • Data Not Linked to You: Crash logs, diagnostics

10. Children's Privacy

Our services are not intended for children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn we have collected data from a child, we will delete it immediately.

11. Cookies and Tracking

Our mobile apps do not use cookies. Our web portals use:

  • Essential cookies: Session management and authentication
  • No advertising cookies: We don't use ads or ad tracking

12. Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information:

  • We will notify you within 72 hours of discovery
  • Describe the nature of the breach
  • Explain steps we're taking to address it
  • Provide guidance on protecting your account

13. Changes to Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Changes will be posted with a new "Last Updated" date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
